Fintech-company Affirm takes back brand control with Gelato

Gelato has always been committed to sustainability. Today, Gelato announces that Anna Backe has been appointed to Senior Vice President, Sustainability.
By allowing companies to print what they need, when they need it and where they need it, and with the ambition of reducing print material´s transportation distances by 90% and volume by 50%, Gelato has a significant impact on companies´environmental footprint. The company is however working on sustainability on a much broader level, including the entire value chains, compliance and data security.
“I´m very humble and excited to take on this new position. We are on a mission to make the printing industry more sustainable while at the same time reduce the total cost of printing for our customers. We will continue to reduce the environmental impact from printing at each step of our value chain and already see great benefits from customers using Gelato in reduced print volume, waste, and transportation distances thus substantial reduction in carbon emissions. Now we aim to take our sustainability work to the next level”, says Anna Backe, SVP Sustainability.

Before Gelato, Anna worked as Marketing Manager & Head of Sustainability at Blocket, the largest marketplace in Sweden with a business concept that expanded to 25 countries. She has over 10 years of experience from various positions within the Schibsted Media Group.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, transportation accounts for more than 28% of carbon emissions in the US. Printing with Gelato can cut companies´ transportation distances up to 90% since all orders are automatically routed to the best-suited print partner closest to the delivery destination.
Over 40% of the global industrial wood harvest is used to make paper, according to the World Wildlife Organization. On-demand printing with rapid delivery helps Gelato's customers print what they need and avoid excess volumes. Through a more efficient print process, less paper is used, resulting in less waste. Gelato also works with the Forest Stewardship Council, an organization which promotes the practice of sustainable forestry worldwide. All paper types used by Gelato are certified by FSC.
All Gelato´s print partners must sign our Code of Conduct and high risk- markets are subject to unannounced on-location inspections by third party auditors.
