John K. Hepburn


John K. Hepburn has been a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley since 1985. John served as a Head of the Nordic Region Corporate Coverage Group. He is an Advisor at Princeton University and a Senior Advisor at Morgan Stanley.

John has spent many years supporting companies in the Nordic region and working closely with the Kinnevik Group and the Wallenberg-sphere. John has extensive experience in the financial markets - M&A transactions and IPOs. He's been deeply involved in and on the board of companies such as: Nordic Information Group , International Health Insurance , Metro International, Mölnlycke Healthcare and Tele2. John has been part of growing and maturing these companies into large - and often also public - companies.

He received an MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 1974 and a BSE in Engineering from Princeton University in 1972.

José Duarte

Board Member

Mr. Duarte is Chief Executive Officer of Infovista. Mr. Duarte has an extensive background leading publicly listed and privately held, global technology companies with a particular focus on high growth and transformation.

Previously, he was CEO of Infinitas Learning and CEO of Unit4. Before Unit4, Mr. Duarte was at SAP for approximately 20 years. He was the founder of SAP Portugal and evolved through the ranks, having served as President, Global Services and Corporate Officer, President EMEA and India and President Latin America. He started his career at Unilever Portugal and Accenture (previously Andersen Consulting).

Mr. Duarte currently holds Non-Executive Director positions in ProAlpha and Gelato.

Norman Fiore

Board Member

Norman co-founded Dawn Capital in 2007. Since that time he has invested in several of Europe’s leading SaaS businesses including Mimecast [MIME], Collibra, Showpad and Automile and in B2B/B2C e-commerce business Gelato.

Prior to Dawn, Norman was Partner at the Reuters Greenhouse Fund, Reuters Plc’s global technology VC fund. At Reuters, Norman co-managed one of the largest corporate technology funds that invested over $450M in over 80 early, mid and late stage companies globally.

In 2001, Norman and his fellow partners acquired the Greenhouse Fund and subsequently sold companies in the online media/advertising sector ( (to AOL), (to PE buyer), Bitpipe (to TechTarget), Moreover (to VeriSign)), internet services (WhereOnEarth (to Yahoo), UltraDNS (to NeuStar), Radialpoint (to TA), Investis (to PE buyer)) and software (Packetvideo (to NextWave), ID2 (to Sonera), Metamerge (to IBM), Persistence (Nasdaq IPO, now PRGS).

Prior to Reuters, Norman worked at Bain & Company in London, initially in the Telecoms practice and then the Private Equity group.

Norman is a graduate of Stanford University with dual BS and BA degrees in Engineering and Economics and holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD business school.

Klas Johansson

Board Member

Klas joined Altor, a Nordic private equity firm, in October 2004. He previously worked for McKinsey & Company focusing on strategy development, mainly for industrial and consumer goods companies.

Klas’ experience in defining business strategies and operational focus adds significant shareholder value to Gelato's operations in various geographical markets and constant expansion into new business opportunities.

Altor is a private equity firm focusing on investments in companies based in the Nordic region.

Nicole Vanderbilt

Board member

Nicole is the VP of International at Etsy where she leads the business outside the US with a focus on the UK, Germany, France, Canada, Australia and India. Nicole has extensive experience in consumer technology businesses across a broad range of sizes and stages of development.

Prior to Etsy, Nicole was CEO of and held leadership positions at Google, Bebo and American Express in Europe and Asia. She began her career in NYC working at Deloitte and later Jupiter Research. Nicole holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BSE in Civil Engineering and Architecture from Princeton.


Adrian Beecroft

Chairman Dawn Capital

Mr Beecroft brings a wealth of investment expertise to Dawn Capital born from a career spanning more than 25 years as a global leader in venture capital and private equity investment.

Mr Beecroft joined Apax in 1984 when it had £10m under management. He helped indentify and evaluate opportunities, and negotiate and close investments in promising early-stage, high tech businesses. As Apax grew, Mr Beecroft assumed responsibility for the London office and approval of all investments. He played a major part in the international expansion of the business, which now has over $20 billion under management with over 150 professionals in eight countries.

Harald Mix

Harald Mix is the Founder and Partner at Altor Equity Partners which was founded in 2003.

He co-founded IK Investment Partners (Industri Kapital) and served as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Vice Managing Director, where he focused on private equity investments in Sweden and Finland.

Prior to that, Harald Mix worked at Enskilda Ventures, in the Leverage Buyout Group at Credit Suisse AG, CSFB and Booz Allen Hamilton in Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States. He served in the principal investment group of The First Boston Corporation.

Harald Mix received an M.B.A. from Harvard University where he was a Baker Scholar and a B.Sc., Economics magna cum laude, from Brown University.

Marcus Wallenberg

Private Investor

Marcus Wallenberg is since 2005 the Chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), a North European financial group for 400,000 corporate customers, and 5 million private customers. SEB has local presence in the Nordic and Baltic countries and in Germany.

Marcus Wallenberg is also the Chairman of Saab AB and FAM AB, and serves on the boards of Investor AB, AstraZeneca Plc, and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. He is the former Chairman of LKAB and Electrolux AB.

Marcus Wallenberg held the position as Chairman and Honorary Chairman of ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) from 2006 to July 2010. From 1999 to 2005, Mr Wallenberg was President and CEO of Investor AB, after having served as Executive Vice-President of the company for six years. Prior to this he was Director of Stora Feldmühle in Düsseldorf for three years.

Marcus Wallenberg earned a B. Sc of Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and began his career at Citibank in New York 1980, followed by various positions at Deutsche Bank in Germany, S G Warburg Co Ltd in London and Citicorp in Hong Kong.

Urban Jansson

Mr. Jansson is a very active non executive professional with a number of directorships and private equity investments in various companies.

He is the former vice chairman of SEB, a North European financial group for 400,000 corporate customers, 5 million private customers. Other board assignments include Chairman of HMS Networks and EAB, director in Lindéngruppen.

Past directorships include Clas Ohlson, Rezidor Hotel Group, Siemens AB, Höganäs, Ahlstrom OY, Ferd A/S, SAS, Nasdaq OMX Stockholm Listing Committee, etc.

Prior to that, Urban Jansson was President and CEO of Ratos, a listed Investment Company, Executive Vice President of Incentive Group AB.
