In 2019, Wärtsilä’s net sales totalled EUR 5.2 billion with approximately 19,000 employees. The company has operations in over 200 locations in more than 80 countries around the world.

The problem

Until 2018, Wärtsilä offset printed most of its marketing material centrally in Finland and shipped it abroad to their offices. Slow, expensive and cumbersome.

The solution

Gelato provided a solution for Wärtsilä to manage all of their product catalogs, flyers, brochures, and direct mail pieces through the Gelato platform.

Through printing on demand and locally where the material is needed across their 200 offices in more than 80 countries, Wärtsilä has saved significant amounts of money and time while saving the environment.

The result

"Last year’s print-on-demand service Gelato rollout went well, and we achieved around 80% of savings in terms of logistic costs for everything printed through Gelato. Also the environmental impact of the service was significant.

We will continue using the service this year for all possible printed materials and decided that “This is Wärtsilä 2020” brochure will only be available as print-on-demand to reduce waste."
